Brit unveils new presence in Australia

BRIT is the latest company to reinforce its presence in Australia, opening its own office in Sydney’s financial district.

The company’s previous presence in Australia had been managed via an agreement with of Australian Reinsurance Underwriting Services (Arus), which has acted as a representative agent of Brit Insurance Limited since January 2004.

In establishing its own presence in the country, Brit has brought in Mike Davidson from Arus as managing director of the new operation, which will provide local representative services initially for Brit’s reinsurance activities.

Brit heralded Davidson’s “extensive experience at a senior level in the Australian and New Zealand reinsurance markets”.

His new role will see him take responsibility for “marketing and promoting Brit Insurance throughout the region, sourcing potential new business and managing existing relationships”.

In the last year Arch, Catlin and broker RFIB have all either launched new operations in Australia or extended their existing presence in the country
