THE UK and US have pledged to embark on a set of collaborations for weather and climate research and the technologies that underpin it. A Memorandum of Agreement has been signed between the US National Centre for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and the UK Met Office. A signing ceremony on July 1 included representatives from NCAR, the Met Office, the University for Cooperation for Atmospheric Research and the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO). “Building strong relations with partners across the world is essential in tackling the next level of questions on how our weather and climate systems work and what the future has in store,” said Julia Sligo, chief scientist at the Met Office.
