CTC names risk officer and new Axiom head

UK-BASED insurance services provider Charles Taylor Consulting (CTC) has appointed Mike Peachey to the newly created role of group chief risk officer.

Peachey was previously chief executive of CTC Axiom; CTC bought Axiom last year in a deal worth up to £7.85m (Insuranceday.com, May 8, 2009)

His replacement at CTC Axiom is Stephen Card, who joins from independent Lloyd’s broker RL Davison where for the last 12 months he was deputy chairman. Prior to that, Card was chief executive of THB International and chief executive of PWS Group.

Peachey will lead CTC’s newly created risk management and compliance department, and will be responsible for ensuring that the group’s risk infrastructure and compliance activities are robust, coherent and resilient.

John Rowe, chief executive of CTC, explained: “[We] cannot expect to thrive in a highly regulated environment without ourselves having robust and well-established risk management procedures. We must meet and exceed the standards of compliance that are expected in today’s regulatory environment and this appointment is an important step in ensuring we continue to meet this objective.

“I can think of no better man than Peachey to lead the department; he is a highly experienced insurance practitioner and has spent many years at the forefront of risk management consultancy worldwide.”

CTC is currently considering setting up managing agency to act as a turnkey advisor for those wishing to set up syndicates in Lloyd’s. Rowe told Insurance Day in January that “it is definitely something that with our people and skills we feel we could offer to the market”.
