Tom Rae memorial planned for February 13
Friends and colleagues of Aon Benfield’s Tom Rae, who passed away during a fundraising climb of Kilimanjaro in December last year, are holding a celebration of his life in the City of London on Monday, February 13.
Tom was a popular, well-known and well-respected figure who had worked in the Lloyd’s market for more than 35 years.
He died after experiencing breathing difficulties during an attempt to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro with his two sons as part of a fundraising climb for Help for Heroes, The Irish Guards Appeal and Save the Children.
A family funeral was held in Essex last month after which Tom was buried at All Saints Church in Hutton.
The celebration of his life, to which all friends, colleagues and clients are invited, will take place at St Helens Bishopsgate at 3 pm on Monday, February 13.
It will be led by the Reverend William Taylor.
A memorial lunch, organised by Tom’s friend Gary Corke, chief executive of Emerald Risk Transfer, and held last month at the Pirate’s Rugby Club in Johannesburg attracted more than 60 people and raised a substantial sum for Help for Heroes.
Memorial details:
Date: Monday, February 13.
Time: 3 pm
