John Spencer joins URS in non-exec role
FORMER BMS Group chief executive John Spencer has joined financial analysis software firm, Ultimate Risk Solutions (URS), as a non-executive director.
Spencer will serve as a senior advisor on the London market for insurance and reinsurance software and risk modelling technologies.
”Spencer brings a wealth of experience to URS from his 28 years as a senior executive in the insurance and reinsurance business,” Alex Bushel, URS chief executive, said.
Spencer is currently a non-executive director of Argo Managing Agency, formerly Heritage, at Lloyd’s, and a senior advisor to SFRi, LLC, a boutique merchant bank.
Between 1997 and 2008, he was a member of the senior management team at international insurance and reinsurance broker BMS, serving as group chief executive from 2002 to 2008.
From 1995 to 1997, he was Lloyd’s head of development and operations for the Americas, where he worked closely with insurance and securities regulators and Lloyd’s investors, advisors, and customers to ensure continuation of Lloyd’s trading privileges in North America.
Prior to that, he was a Lloyd’s broker specialising in US accident and health, workers compensation and specialty casualty business.
URS operates Risk Explorer, a financial analysis model used by insurers, reinsurers, and brokers worldwide to identify and quantify the broad range of risks decision makers face, and Real World, which simulates the behaviour of main economic variables in multiple economies.
