Aaron Coates joins Bermuda-based reinsurer as head of property, alongside two other hires
BERMUDA-based reinsurer Conduit Re has expanded its property team with three senior appointments from PartnerRe.
The carrier has appointed Aaron Coates as head of property, Mark Mitchell as head of US property and Dacotah Baksh as property underwriter.
Conduit Re said the appointments would expand its expertise across US and global property reinsurance.
Coates most recently served as senior underwriter, global catastrophe, at PartnerRe, and Mitchell was lead underwriter for North America catastrophe at the reinsurer. Baksh was an underwriter.
Stephen Postlewhite, chief underwriting officer at Conduit Re, said the team’s “broad expertise in the property reinsurance market will be invaluable as we execute on our underwriting strategy”.
In July, Conduit Re reported gross written premiums of $789m, down 1.8%, for the first half of the year, with an undiscounted combined ratio of 92.6%.
Last month, the company appointed Aspen senior executive Mark Pickering as chief financial officer to succeed Elaine Whelan.
